Steve Fleck - Coach
Steve Fleck knows triathlon - inside and out! He competed in what many believe to have been the very first triathlon in Ontario, in 1981. He went on from there in the 1980's and into the early 1990's to being one of the top triathletes in Ontario and Canada, in that 1st generation of the sport of triathlon. Several hundred triathlon races. Many podium places. A few race wins. Nine Ironmans raced - fastest time 9:04. Two races at the Ironman World Championships in '89 and '93.
He stepped away from active triathlon competition in 1997 after Ironman Canada, and another Age-Group Podium place there (2nd place), to move into a business career in various roles, in the cycling, triathlon and running businesses in media, marketing, communication and sales. During this time, he coached Paolina Allan, to many triathlon race wins, as an Age-Grouper and Professional, 3 qualifications for the Ironman World Championships, Multisport Canada Series Wins, and awards for both Canadian and Ontario Long-Course triathlete of the year honors!
Steve's a life long student of the sport, and has had the opportunity to learn a great deal from either training with, and interacting with some of the very best triathletes and coaches in the history of the sport of triathlon!
He has a BSc in Human Physiology and Biochemistry from the University of Guelph (1985), where he was a member of the Varsity Cross Country Team for four years.
He is currently one of the leading Endurance Sports Race Announcers and Commentators in North America. He's on the microphone at over 30, triathlon, running and cycling races/events across North America each year!
